The good news is that my book sounds, well, like a real book! That's been thanks to some fantastic editors at Wido Publishing. I'm really excited (and also nervous and scared out of my wits) for it to be released into the world for everyone to enjoy. As soon as I get a release date from Wido, you'll be the first to know (I'm crossing my fingers it's soon).
The bad news is that before this whole editing thing, I thought I was a master at multitasking. Writing, housework, soccer, supper, pets--No problem! How hard would editing be while writing book two, and keeping up on menial household chores.
It's been like running around like a crazy chicken! But, I'm loving every second of editing though.
So, I've been having to set priorities and manage my time more wisely. Here's a list I came up with in no particular order.
Editing
Feeding the children and tending the farm
Blog on a regular schedule
keeping the coffee pot full and the house stocked with chocolate
Watching Glee, Grimm, and the new show, Revolution
Writing book two of the Deadly Kisses series
Finishing up some summer reading
Going away on a birthday weekend getaway
Starting a new story
Claiming a space for an office-I currently use my dining room table as my writing space. I've hinted to my hubby that I need my very own office because every writer needs their own space, and then I wouldn't see things that need to be done around the house. I could hide away to blog and write, completing all my goals! Hmm, maybe he'll read this post *grins* Should I start planning?
What are your current priorities? And do you think having your own writing space keeps you on track with your writing goals?

Hi Kerri, I imagine fall and school starting have helped things settle down somewhat. I need to set priorities right now that include writing but due to a change in our household dynamics I lost my writing space. Still trying to figure that out. I'm not one to go away somewhere to write but I just might have to. Looking forward to your final edits!
Let's see, hmmm, I guess I didn't make the list. I will build that office next year. The amount of work involved and the cool technology I'm going to hook it up with will be awesome. The vision is there. I hope you'll love it when you see it. I'm going to shoot for end of spring time. Ya know how crazy things are the rest of the year. I think hubby/ wife dates should be on the list. Just saying. :)
LOL. I KNOW, right? After receiving a couple full requests I decided I better get serious about this writing thing. I started getting up 2 hrs earlier and scheduling absolutely every part of my day. Critiquing falls into hourly time slots twice a week. Market related reading has been prioritized and slipped into the cracks, and my writing/editing time has doubled. Meanwhile the kids are doing twice as many chores. =)I'm SUPER stoked for you by the way, and can't wait for your book's release. (I'll be one of the first to pre-order it.) Yay Kerri!!
Best of luck for the editing and writing! It's exciting to see your book starting to take the shape of a book. :D
Too much on my plate at the moment. Sometimes it is hard to stay focused, but I think I agree with you. Editing can be quite a calming activity
Hi, Kerri,
Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day.
Multi-tasking is definitely a like a THREE-RING-CIRCUS.
I try to keep to some sort of schedule, but since I am a panster at heart, it is difficult for me.
As for a writing space .... YES! You do need your own little corner of the world. Like you, I write in an open space, but in my living room. I am also an illustrator/interior designer, so I have my drawing table in the room as well.
Not fun. I get distracted every second. So, since I have a HUGE living room, I have decided to section off a room for me. YAY! The room has two exposures, so even if it's sectioned off, both spaces will have windows. Of course, "my space" will have four windows! SQUEEEE! and two exposures ... gorgeous se light. The new living room will have only one window, but I will be putting in a pocket french door into my room, so the light from that space will filter into the living area.
I should have my new space within the next month.... I CAN'T WAIT! This will be the first time I will have MY own personal working space.
I hope you get yours! Maybe there can be a way to section off one of your larger rooms for your space.
