X is for Xi'an & the Terra Cotta Warriors

Welcome to the A-Z challenge, where we'll be blogging our way through the alphabet throughout the month of April. My theme will be places--it may be a specific place, a state, or a country. It will be whatever I think is spooky, beautiful, or intriguing. I'll be rating each stop on the way with those factors, with 5 being the highest score, and 1 being the lowest score. I hope it will inspire any writers, or travelers out there in Bloggerland. So, thanks for stopping by, and enjoy!

X = Xi'an

In Xi'an, China there is an army so grand that just the sight of them would have you shaking in your pants, but fear not brave tourists these soldiers are the Terra Cotta Warriors, the guardians of China's first Emperor, and are statues that date back to the late third century BC. There are over 8,ooo soldiers, 130 chariots, 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses. What an impressive find!

I love this. Can you imagine the years it took to create these terra cotta warriors. Thank you for this post. I love the way they used them in the Thor movie(?) I believe, or one like it, where they brought them to life. It was so cool.

Thanks for the information. I love learning new things. I'm an A to Z fellow challenger. Have a great weekend.

By the way, I have Cuevas in my genealogy. They used to be deLaCuevas before they dropped the de la.

I love paranormal and will be reading your book.

It's so crazy. I can't imagine a man so obsessed with his own status and power that he'd create an entire stone army to remind all the forthcoming generations for centuries. They are pretty cool though.

I've watched a few documentaries about the Terra Cotta warriors and it always fascinates me. It'd be awesome to see them.

I was able to go to see the Terra Cotta soliders back in 2006 when I went on a study abroad in China. It was amazing!!! I even met the gentleman that discovered the soldiers years and years ago. It was pretty amazing. Anyone who's anyone should hit up this site for sure.
